Last time I was insulted: A couple weeks ago, having posted the change.org petition for the banning of electric shock treatment at the JRC on my Facebook page, a now ex-friend actually started arguing in support of the JRC. At several points in the discussion that ended our friendship, she told me that I was too emotional about this topic to be able to debate it rationally and I needed to learn how to debate unemotionally if I expected to be taken seriously.
(Though, for the record, I don’t consider it a bad thing that I am in fact emotional about the treatment of disabled people by our society, nor do I consider emotionality to be mutually exclusive with reason. But that was her idea of an insult.)
